As you are aware from previous communications the Internal Revenue Service has extended both the filing deadline and payment deadline for 2019 to July 15, 2020. They also chose to extend the payment deadline for first quarter estimated tax payments to July 15, 2020 as well.
- The second quarter payment is currently still due June 15, 2020.
Recently both the State of Oregon, City of Portland and Multnomah County followed suit and extended the filing and payment deadline for 2019 taxes to July 15, 2020. However, they did not extend the deadline for first quarter estimated tax payments, and these are still due April 15, 2020.
- If you are required to make a first quarter estimated tax payment to the State of Oregon or to the City of Portland it is due April 15, 2020
Due to our own business interruptions associated with COVID-19 our firm is also considering July 15, 2020 as the tax deadline for 2019 returns.
