The ideal candidate for our Senior Tax Accountant position will lead and manage multiple tax engagements to deliver superior tax services for our clients, as well as enjoy researching tax related topics and educating staff on their findings.  Fluence’s Senior Tax Accountant will serve the tax department, as well as multiple managers and/or other more senior professional staff members and will require client interaction.  This is an excellent opportunity for leadership and career advancement to the right candidate.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Full understanding of cash-basis accounting
  • Implement client’s engagements from start to finish, (planning, executing, directing and completing tax projects)
  • Manage engagement budgets
  • Conducting research on various tax issues, as well as present findings to all levels of staff
  • Supervise, train and mentor associates and interns on tax projects
  • Prepare more complex tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships and corporations
  • Review tax returns prepared by staff and make recommendations regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities
  • Assist with the preparation of responses to tax audits and notices, both federal and state
  • Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, resolve tax related problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements
  • Gain understanding of client operations, processes and business objectives
  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary

Qualifications (Must haves):

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience, preferably in tax consulting – within public accounting is a plus
  • Strong experience in staff and tax management
  • Proficiency in MS Office software programs
  • Understanding of state and local taxes
  • Broad exposure to federal income taxation and knowledge of tax regulations
  • Experience researching complex tax issues – experience with Thomson products a plus (Checkpoint, etc.)
